1983

Ron and Tina Pack dream of establishing Smithfield Virginia as a historic destination, just as nice as the neighboring waterfront communities.

November 24th 1986

The Inn, Restaurant, and Marina opens for business!

1987

During a visit to Berlin, Germany, President Ronald Reagan challenges Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall.

1988

The first Poker Run was held. This annual event still takes place the second Saturday in July.

1989

Nintendo releases the Game Boy portable video game system in North America

1990

“Simpsons” premiered on Fox-TV

1991

First Raft Race. This event is still a tradition every year in June.

1994

The Lighthouse and raw bar open.

1995

Invention of the DVD is announced

1996

Raw bar is converted to guest rooms.

1996

Historic Downtown Main Street is revitalized with an extensive beautification project

Titanic premieres

Google is founded

September 13th 2001

The Inner Banks (IBX) bar and grill opens and second generation, Randy Pack officially joins the Station.

2002

The town of Smithfield celebrates its 250th anniversary by constructing the world’s largest Ham Biscuit and is featured in the Guinness Book of World Records.

2003

Ron and Tina Pack’s second son, Brian Pack, officially joins the family business!

Hurricane Isabel creates a 9.5-foot surge, the highest recorded tide ever. Smithfield Station undergoes major repairs and renovations.

2004

The Boston Red Sox win the World Series for the first time since 1918, breaking the “Curse of the Bambino”

2005

Grey’s Anatomy premieres

2006

Fortune Magazine ranks Smithfield Foods among America’s most admired companies!

2007

Virginia celebrates its 400th anniversary

September 2007

The Smithfield Station Lodge and Shops open. Smithfield Station Marina is expanded.

2008

Michael Phelps surpasses Mark Spitz in Gold Medals won at a single Olympics, winning eight.

2009

Fitness Center is added and Windsor Castle Park is dedicated!

2012

Inn was remodeled to match the Lodge Hotel Rooms.

2014

Randy Pack is the recipient of Inside Business’ Top 40 Under 40 Award!

2015

Pagan River Wine Merchants opened as the newest Station Shop!

2017

Smithfield Station celebrated it’s 30th Anniversary!

2018

Inn was remodeled to match the Lodge Hotel Rooms. Randy and Brian Pack create Pack Brothers Hospitality and take control of Surry Seafood Co. in Surry, Virginia.

2019

A new structure was built next to the pool and the marina shower facilities were updated.

Lighthouse Renovations Completed!

Pack Brothers Hospitality announces 37 North at Fort Monroe!
